MaxContact provides customer contact centre software that helps contact centres across the UK to build smarter customer experiences. As a growing B2B brand – backed by private equity firm FPE Capital – we’re on an exciting journey. After over a decade in the industry working with software solutions that didn’t tick all the boxes for our clients, we developed our own SaaS platform and launched MaxContact. We’ve experienced strong year on year growth and have exciting, ambitious plans to grow our business and the opportunities for our team in the next three years and beyond.

The Team:

With 60+ staff, this is a time of growth for the company, especially in the technology teams.   

MaxContact is driven, and we want to become the challenger in a robust and mature marketplace, and to do that, we need to be agile and innovative.   

As a small growing company, you will be part of the team, everyone has a voice, and we make this work together.  We regularly provide feedback and brainstorming sessions, and we don’t enforce hierarchy; it is “us”, not “them”, and there is no red tape, agility is key. 

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing, implementing and operating technology at pace. In addition, we want someone with a solid understanding of what it takes to design and deliver scalable, distributed, cloud-based systems in a highly available and sustainable manner.  

This role will equally need to influence wider engineering and product teams on operational best practice and technology choice ensuring customer uptime and sustainability are at the forefront of all decisions. A certain level of business acumen; understanding on when to push back and question technology choice and decisions, coupled with the ability to understand and implement against business technology strategy.   

Key responsibilities:

We embrace the core of DevOps at MaxContact and our team have full accountability and autonomy over our product operational and release lifecycles. 

  • Maintaining, migrating, and updating systems as and when required, 
  • Responding to incidents and proactive monitoring measures 
  • Working with our SRE’s to improve our operation up-time and stability 
  • Leading on projects and communicating directly with our customers 
  • Contributing to FinOps activities to help control technology expenditure 
  • Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure 
  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers and po’s 
  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes 
  • Testing and examining code written by others and analysing results 
  • Ensuring that systems are safe, sustainable and secure against cybersecurity threats 
  • Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and operational ‘fixes’ 
  • Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended 
  • Planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions 

Experience & skillset:

  • Excellent teamworking and communication skills 
  • Knowledge of programming languages 
  • Strong problem-solving skills 
  • Good attention to detail 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time 
  • Experience in any cloud is accepted however Azure would be preferable 
  • Experience coaching others 
  • Experience in managing incidents  
  • Significant experience in IaC (terraform) at scale using complementary tools such as SonarCloud, teragrunt and ado,. 
  • Ability to write in scripting languages such as bash, terragrunt, powershell and python as well as debugging other languages, 
  • Proven experience in CI/CD pipelines and zero downtime deployments (we use ADO at Max) 
  • An understanding of Microsoft .NET languages 
  • Use of previous frameworks such as Microsoft CAF 
  • Previous use of version tools such as git
